What Makes a Trained Leader? PDF Print E-mail

As parents and volunteers in the Boy Scouts of America, we all want the best program for our children. And the best program means the best experience. So how do we get that? In large part by being the beat leaders we can be. The Scout Oath begins with..."On My Honor I Will Do My Best..." As we set the example; we should expect nothing less of ourselves. Training affords us the best opportunity to be the best we can be. Wood Badge is leadership training at its best.

Here is an explanation of what you need to do to prepare for attending Wood Badge. Once you are trained for the position you now hold, you will be ready to attend Wood Badge.

Different amounts of training are required for different levels of the program, as shown in the following chart. You are considered trained for your position, and can wear the "trained" patch, when you have completed all of the training segments appropriate for your program and position.
